Branding Business and a Blog Called Awesome
Making your blog awesome has considerable benefits to your brand and business. Imagine how cool it would be to have a blog that makes your competitors envious. The kind of blog that get’s talked about at board meetings, attracts groupies, and one that everyone wants to guest post on.
If you close your eyes you can feel the fame, fortune, and glory while you drink cocktails on the beach…
Of course this doesn’t happen overnight. And it begs the question:
How can we make our blogs awesome?
Let’s look at a few things you can do:
Create Blogs about your Products and Services that Answer Frequently Asked Questions
This is an old school idea but still a good one. If you receive questions that are frequently asked write blogs about them. Not only will it give your potential customers/clients all the information they can ever want, but the chances are this is a search engine query too. A good long tail keyword as a title and repeated few times in the post and you could be killing two birds with one stone. (Not literally 🙂 )
If you’re in the mood research a few forum topics about your industry to see if there are questions you can answer via the medium of your blog. When doing so try and find questions asked by potential customers and clients and not people in the same industry as you. Same rules apply.
Case Studies / Client Stories
Writing blogs about your successes makes for fantastic reading. This not only shows your potential clients and customers just how cool you are, but it tells a story. We humans have evolved to listen to stories as it helps us as children make sense of the world when we’re adults. So by telling the story of how you helped one of your clients and customers achieve something, not only will hook your reader, but you demonstrate your competence, and showcase a few USPs too.
Of course you want to go for a compelling drama rather than a soap opera, but hey people watch Eastenders.
Make Complex Concepts Easy to Grasp
This is not an easy blog to write, but if you can pull this off you probably be made a Knight of the Realm at some point in your life. Not only that, but the reader will probably give you first dibs on marrying their eldest daughter.
These blogs become particularly difficult if you’re trying to explain technical aspects of a concept to a beginner, or to a client or customer with little actual technical knowledge. If you are blogging for the latter, you may want to show the product or service in action to get the points across as to what it can do. If your tech heavy blog is a bit of a sleep inducer, keep the tone of the blog light and introduce humour if you can.
Topical News about your Industry
Blogs written about industry developments will not necessarily attract customers and clients, at least not directly. They will however, attract people who work in the same industry as you, and they can catch search engine traffic. Where they are of real value however, is you can demonstrate your knowledge and know-how by writing blogs showing a well thought out and insightful opinion on the news development.
Indirectly, this builds trust with potential customers and clients.
